History

The Ministry of Fun Santa School is the longest running genuine training school for professional Father Christmases in the UK.

We prepare performers for the task of recreating the magic of the Real Santa in every way. We of course stress that the Real Santa does exist.

This year we returned to The Ragged School Museum in East London, the home of the first ever Ministry of Fun Santa School in 1998.

What we do

The training covers all aspects of the role, including history, character, costume, beards, voice, make-up and – most importantly of all – role play, in which we prepare Santa to be ready for anything so that he can create equal quantities of magic for even the naughtiest or shyest of child.

This year we received numerous celebrity visitors, including Eammon Holmes, Joey Essex and comedienne Andi Osho even came to learn how to be an elf.

Highlights

In 2016 we trained our largest number of Santas ever.

More than 800 bookings were carried out at events, grottos and department stores all over the UK between November and December.

The Ministry of Fun Santa School featured in many TV and Radio shows during this period, including “Supershoppers” (Ch4), “How The Other Half Live” (Ch5), “The Only Way is Essex” (ITV2) and BBC Radio 4’s “You and Yours”.

Print coverage included features in The Sun, I, The Daily Star, The Evening Standard.

Our school was also featured in festive articles such as this one in The Guardian.
